I worked in this mills as Stores officer and completely turned around the culture and brought latest inventory techniques and the results were excellent. I worked between 1978 an 1979 and was transferred to NTC Pondicherry.

Samy Iyer New Street, was named after one Late Sri Sama Iyer, who was holding all these areas in the street. He gave as gift to Madhav Brahmins. His house was earlier named as Samier Building. Later it was demolished and an apartment called 'Jewels Manor Apartment' raised by his great grand childrent. On one end of the street, there is a Krishnan Temple, now taken care of Madhavas, and on the other end of the street, an amman temple is there. Both the lands for the temples gifted by Late Samy Iyer. The L shaped end of the street also named as Samy Iyer New Street. There was a Nandavanam there and that too gifted to Vaniar Chettiars. They have constructed Kanniga parameswari kalyana mandapam. On the other side of the land where a small well was there, now Sri Vinayagar Temple is there being maintained by some wellwishers.
